Ode to Daddy

Aside from bath time, 5:30pm is your favorite time of the day...why...because that's when Mommy says "Daddy's HOME!!!!" I have totally come to terms with the fact that when 5 o'clock rolls around - you are no longer interested in looking at my face! And who could blame you? You usually start getting cranky right around that time and then low and behold, your hero and mine steps through the door. I love seeing your little face light up (and your dimples explode) when your dad comes home, when you were not far from tears just seconds before. It's equally heart melting to see your dad's face light up when he sees his little man...and lastly, Mommy's face lights up seeing both her boys so happy to be exactly where they are.

Dad has been working 10 to 12 hour days for the past two weeks. He works so hard for you and I. Most people who work that hard would come home in a bad mood - but not your Dad! He comes home with a big smile and open arms for the kid hand-off. This picture was taken today, about 2 minutes after Daddy got home from work. You wanted to show him that you can stand up all by yourself on your rocker. You're such a big boy...and Dad's such a good man. I'm such a lucky woman!

Do I look interested?

As of late, you are becoming aware of those two little things that run around your house...you are quite interested in them. They, on the other hand, are not so interested in you! They do like to smell you and they get excited when you blow raspberries in their faces but they aren't crazy about the chunks of hair and skin you try to pull off of them. This look basically sums up Jessie's enthusiasm for the hair puling thing...

I like to believe that soon, Jessie and Buddy will come to love you more like a brother and less like those damn raccoons they flip out at every day. Day after day. After day.

Sigh.

Bath Time

I would have to say that one of your favorite times of the day is bath time! You LOOOOVE bath time.

You are so big that you sit up in the tub now! You have been doing this for about a month. It's like a new world in your eyes...you splash your hands in the water as hard as you can while Daddy sings 'Splish-splash I was takin' a bath...'. Daddy is the best baby-bather in town!...or at least it sounds that way from the kitchen!

Look how cute your little bum is!!! Guess you did get something from your mother! wink, wink!

Monkey

It's been a while since I have written. I have been too busy chasing my little Monkey around...that's right, you're crawling!! Your first time was on April 8th, just four days after your 6 month birthday. You aren't too difficult to watch as of yet but your crawling is getting faster by the day so we'll see.  One would think you would be happy with the fact that you are crawling but noooooo, now you want to stand up and practice walking! You love holding on to the ottoman and using it as a 'cheap' walker. It is so strange to see you standing and crawling and (sort of) walking - you're a baby! You're not supposed to do all that stuff!

We also tried a little bit of finger foods and by finger foods I mean 'bananas' and by bananas I mean 'mush'! I put a few pieces on your high chair for you to feed yourself but you were more interested in squeezing it between your pudgy little fingers! This is a picture of you taking your first bite of whole banana!

Mommy and Daddy can't believe how fast you are growing. You are nearly 7 months - a little person with lots of personality...personality of course is a nice translation for 'person who likes to yell a lot'. You LOVE yelling. You do it All. Day. Long. You like to pretend your mad but you're just like your Mom - you can't keep a straight face and your dimples are a dead give-away! When you tire of yelling, you like to babble with the three syllables and one word that you can say right now; 'ba-ba', 'da-da', 'blah-blah' and 'yeah'.
Every morning, you, Mommy, Buddy and Jessie sit at the top of the stairs as Daddy puts his shoes and coat on for work. You've recently (yesterday) started waving 'Bye-Bye' to Dad. You think that's pretty great and you continue to wave 'Bye-bye' for about 4 minutes after Daddy leaves...practice makes perfect, right bud?

Now, stop growing up! I like you just as you are now :)
